its an 06 car so i figured it would be able to play mp3 cds. am i doing something wrong ro do i just need a mp3 player in the car. i thought most car stereos can play cds even if they are mp3 cds.

If the radio can read MP3s, it will say so on the front of the radio. There will be a little 'mp3' somewhere around the CD slot.

not every radio can play mp3 burn disc. you have better chance to play the disc if you rduce the burn speed at 8 x or below. i have the same problem you have until i set the speed below 8X
just re burn the CD in the correct format. problem solved. good luck
